Ever since emojis became a part of digital vernacular, I’ve always wanted to create/make a set of my own. Thus, Baymoji was born – a set of drawings about all the various things related to the Bay Area, digitally drawn on my Apple iPad. True to its namesake, the number of emojis created in version 1 (i.e. 101 emoji characters) also bears some significance in the Bay Area. Looking back, I didn’t realize what I was getting myself into – and how long it would take me to go from idea to final product. In the end, though, it was all worth it. Because really, once you go hyphy and get into the zone of drawing hella, emojis, time will fly. Yadadamean!?! YEE!
